We're not a big institution with a fancy headquarters. We're a bunch of ordinary people who decided that joy is too important to leave to chance — so we started making it ourselves.
Fundacja Fabryka Radości is a foundation based in Bydgoszcz, Poland. We don't just talk about happiness, we build it. Like a factory, but instead of products, we make moments that people actually remember.
We're volunteers, athletes, parents, neighbours, and dreamers. What holds us together is one stubborn belief: everyone deserves to be happy. Not just the lucky ones. Not just the healthy ones. Everyone. And when joy is missing somewhere in our community, we go looking for ways to bring it back.
Our work reaches across the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, with deep roots in Lubiewo Municipality and the gorgeous Tuchola Forest. We organise triathlon races and trail festivals, yes — but we also pack food boxes, visit lonely elderly neighbours, and throw superhero parties for kids who really needed one.
We're officially registered as a public benefit organisation (organizacja pożytku publicznego), so if you're a Polish taxpayer, you can support us just by ticking a box on your tax return. Your 1.5% costs you nothing extra — and it means a lot to us.
Founder & President of the Foundation
Tadeusz Olszewski had a simple idea: "With a smile through life, giving joy to others." He looked around his community and noticed something that bothered him — that joy, real joy, was in short supply for too many people. Children without celebrations. Elderly neighbours without visitors. Families struggling without anyone noticing.
So he did what most people only think about doing. He gathered a few like-minded friends, registered a foundation, and started showing up. No grand strategy, no big budget — just people who cared, turning up and getting things done.
The response was immediate and overwhelming. Word spread fast. Volunteers arrived. Local businesses pitched in. Municipalities opened their doors. What started as a handful of people with good intentions became a recognised regional force — not because of clever marketing, but because what we do actually matters to people.
Today we run major sporting events, ongoing aid programs, and a growing volunteer network. But the spirit is exactly the same as day one: show up, be kind, and make someone's day a little brighter.
We're not about statistics. But these ones do make us smile.
Joy takes many shapes. Here's what ours looks like in practice.
We organise the Wielonek Triathlon Challenge, the Tuchola Forest Trail Festival, and the Lubiewo Marathon. These aren't just races — they're days when hundreds of strangers become a community, cheering each other across finish lines in one of Poland's most beautiful regions.
We show up with food boxes, warm clothes, and a friendly face. Our volunteers visit families in need, elderly residents living alone, and anyone going through a rough patch. We don't just drop things off — we sit down, we listen, and we make sure people know someone cares.
Honestly? This is our favourite part. Watching a child's face light up during a superhero day, or seeing a shy kid burst out laughing during a parachute game — those are the moments we live for. We create safe, joyful spaces where every child feels like the main character of their own adventure.
The Tuchola Forest isn't just a backdrop for our events — it's part of who we are. Ancient pines, glittering lakes, fresh air that reminds you what life is supposed to feel like. We want people to fall in love with this place, take care of it, and pass that love on to their kids.
